Dallas Billionaire Tom Dundon Reportedly Close to Deal for Carolina Hurricanes NHL Team

Reports were flying Thursday that Dallas billionaire Tom Dundon has signed -- or was about to sign -- a purchase agreement to buy a majority stake in the Carolina Hurricanes professional hockey team.Dundon said he was boarding a plane and was unable to talk early Thursday evening. But the internet was full of reports on the status of the deal.SB Nation reported that Peter Karmanos Jr., owner of the NHL team, was on the verge of signing a purchase agreement with Dundon that would leave Karmanos with a 48 percent stake.Sporting News reported that Karmanos and Dundon made a presentation Thursday morning to the NHL Board of Governors meeting in West Palm Beach.
