Couple Who Met at SMU Offer Up $1.5 Million Challenge Grant for New Aquatics Center

Sheila and Jody Grant have pledged $1.5 million to the Robson & Lindley Aquatics Center at Southern Methodist University.The gift is a challenge grant to help complete a $22 million campaign for the new facility, which will be dedicated Nov. 3."We hope to inspire the community to join us in reaching the goal for the fundraising of the aquatics center," Sheila Grant said. "We like to participate in opportunities that provide benefits for as many people as possible, profoundly enhancing their lives." Jody Grant, partner and chairman of BankCap Partners and chairman emeritus of Texas Capital Bancshares, met his wife at SMU while earning a bachelor's degree on a swimming scholarship. He also holds an MBA and doctorate from the University of Texas at Austin.The prominent banker has served on a number of boards and committees at SMU and other institutions, including Communities Foundation of Texas, Dallas Museum of Art, KERA-TV (Channel 13) and Dallas County Community College Foundation.Sheila Grant has a long history of civic involvement at American Ballet Theater, the School of American Ballet, Dallas Symphony Association, Texas Ballet Theater, UT Southwestern Medical Center, Van Cliburn Foundation and Woodall Rodgers Park Foundation.  Continue reading...
