Could Hundreds of Laid-off GM Factory Workers Land in North Texas?

Since announcing it would indefinitely idle four factories in the U.S. and one in Canada, General Motors has been attempting to rehire the thousands of affected employees in various regions around the country -– one of which could be Arlington, according to The Detroit Free Press.By the end of April, GM had transferred around 1,305 of the nearly 2,800 at risk positions to other plants around the country, company spokesman Dan Flores told The Free Press.The majority of affected employees have already been relocated to Michigan, Ohio, Tennessee, Indiana and New York. Some 500 hourly workers now remain without jobs, awaiting transfers. Another 900 are still working at the Detroit Hamtramck and Warren Transmission plants.  Continue reading...
