Border Crosser Says She Fled Coyotes Who Held Her for Ransom at Mexico Stash House

A Honduran woman captured as she crossed the U.S. border illegally told federal agents in Texas that she had been kidnapped and held for ransom in Mexico.The woman was taken into custody Wednesday as she crossed the Rio Grande near Eagle Pass, according to U.S. Customs and Border Protection.She told agents with U.S. Border Patrol that she had escaped from human smugglers holding her at a stash house in Nuevo Laredo."The woman was told she was to be held captive until her family met the smuggler's ransom demands," the federal agency said.After her escape, she said, she made her way 100 miles north to Piedras Negras where she crossed the border into Texas.  Continue reading...
