As Dallas ISD Moves to Finalize Its Budget, Its CFO Is Walked Out the Door

Dallas ISD will put the finishing touches on its budget without its chief financial officer at the helm.Jim Terry, the district’s CFO, was escorted from the district’s headquarters on Wednesday, a day before he was scheduled to brief trustees on the proposed 2017-18 budget. Terry was also on tap to discuss a host of other funding options the district is considering, including a tax ratification election or a tax swap. Trustees will vote in two weeks to approve the budget.While his departure from the district isn’t a shock, the speed with which it occurred is. Terry had announced his resignation just before the Memorial Day weekend in a brief e-mail to those in his department. His original intention was to work through Aug. 31.District officials aren’t saying what changed since then. The district’s chief of communications Toni Cordova said via text message on Wednesday that the district does not comment on personnel matters.During a phone interview Thursday, Terry said that the decision to leave was mutual, and that “it was time for me to pursue other opportunities.”  Continue reading...
