Arlington to Pay $850,000 to Family of Teen Who Was Fatally Shot at Car Dealership

The city of Arlington has agreed to pay $850,000 to settle a claim by the family of Christian Taylor, who was fatally shot by an officer in Aug. 2015, according to the Fort Worth Star-Telegram.The city council is expected to approve the settlement at the 6:30 p.m. Tuesday meeting. The unarmed 19-year-old was shot at a car dealership by a rookie officer, who was not charged. Taylor was found to have marijuana and a synthetic drug in his system, according to an autopsy report.A staff report says the family and the city had a “pre-suit mediation” on Nov. 7 and that although they “did not initially reach a settlement, the parties have now agreed to settle all claims between the parties,” according to the Star-Telegram.“The main thing about the settlement is we can’t be satisfied with any amount of money, because it can’t bring my son back,” Taylor's father, Adrian Taylor Sr. said to the Star-Telegram. “Our goal is to get a community center in his name.
