Accused Killer of 10-year-old Girl Refusing to Dismount Smith County Jail Basketball Goal

The accused killer of a 10-year-old Tyler-area girl has reportedly climbed to the top of a basketball goal at the Smith County Jail and is now refusing to come down.Reagan Roy of Tyler's KETV-TV posted video footage Friday afternoon of Gustavo Zavala-Garcia, the uncle of slain Kayla Gomez Orozco, perched atop the backboard in an orange jumpsuit.Zavala-Garcia, 24, has been charged with capital murder in the death of Kayla, whose remains were recovered in a well five days after she went missing from Bullard First Assembly on Nov. 1.According to Zavala-Garcia's indictment, the girl was struck with and against a blunt object, asphyxiated and drowned, the Tyler Morning Telegraph reported.Zavala-Garcia also sexually assaulted or tried to sexually assault the girl before her death, the indictment said.  Continue reading...
