Cats Pound Captains 9-1

Pat O'Sullivan had three hits, a home run and three runs batted in on Wednesday night as the Cats pounded the Captains 9-1 at LaGrave Field.

The Cats fell behind 1-0 in the first as Jose Torres drew a bases-loaded walk against Cats' starter Dan Grybash.

But Fort Worth rallied to score three runs in the third and take the lead. Brian Fryer led off with a double, extending his hitting streak to 15 games. The next batter, Cameron Blair singled him home to get the Cats on the scoreboard. After Ryan Patterson reached on an infield single, John Allen delivered a two-run double to make it 3-1 Cats.

They would break it open in the fourth inning with a two-out rally as Patterson reached on an error by third baseman Christopher Garcia. Allen followed with a single before O'Sullivan blasted his 10th home run of the season, a three-run dinger for a 6-1 Cats advantage. Fort Worth added two more runs in that inning on an Isa Garcia two-run double for an 8-1 lead. The Cats scored their ninth run in the sixth inning on a Michael Bell run-scoring fielder's choice.

O'Sullivan finished the night 3-for-5 and in doing so, lengthened his hitting streak to 20 games. Allen collected his second four-hit game of the season as he was 4-for-5 with two runs batted in.

Grybash (6-1) settled down after the first and permitted a run on four hits over five innings to notch the victory. Aaron Cunningham was tagged with the loss after allowing eight runs, only three earned on 12 hits in 3 2/3 innings of work as his record dropped to 1-3.

Cats' reliever Ryan Trytten worked three scoreless innings and Dustin Cameron worked the ninth to close out the game.

With the win, the Cats record improved to 27-10 on the season and 18-4 at home.

The series concludes on Thursday night at 7:05 p.m. Joel Kirsten goes to the mound for Fort Worth and Logan Williamson will throw for Shreveport-Bossier.
