Leigh-Boyd opened its doors on Fort Worth's Camp Bowie Boulevard in 1993. Owner John Mitchell was right at home selling antiques, home accessories and interior decorating advice in a spot not too far from where he was raised.
But Mitchell packed up 15 years of memories and his final items this week. His store just couldn't survive in a tough economy any longer.
Mitchell says he's not the only one on the bricks having a hard time. In fact, he tells NBCDFW the owner of another Camp Bowie business wants the "Going Out of Business" sign that now hangs in his front window. Mitchell says as more follow, "this will change the face of Camp Bowie."
While Mitchell will close his Leigh-Boyd store (4802 Camp Bowie Boulevard), his interior decorating business, John Mitchell Interiors, survives. He has projects lined up and will now have more time for new clients. Mitchell can be reached through firstname.lastname@example.org or 817-846-0656.
And if you're wondering about the name Leigh-Boyd, Leigh is the middle name of one of his daughters and Boyd is Mitchell's middle name.
