Bob Sambol, founder of Bob's Steak and Chop House and owner of the Dallas location on Lemmon Ave., is filing for Chapter 11 bankruptcy protection, Unfair Park said.
The biggest cited reason is due to a failed Denver location of Bob's that added to the $1.9 million that they now owe to creditors.
We spoke to Bill Lenox, the President of Bob's Steak and Chop House, who told us the proceedings won't effect any of the other locations of Bob's Steak and Chop House, including the stores in Plano and Fort Worth's OMNI Hotel.
“The restaurant stays open, the employees and taxes get paid, but past bills are lumped together and renegotiated,” Sambol told SideDish.
Lenox said the Denver location, which he partnered with Sambol to build, was one of the spots Sambol took when they dissolved their business relationship. The other Bob's locations are "healthy, active, and current with their bills," said Lenox.
UPDATE: Bill Lenox reminded us that OMNI Hotels owns the Bob's locations in San Fransisco, Tucson, and Fort Worth. Sambol only owns the Bob's location on Lemmon Ave., not the branding of Bob's.
