It didn't take Adrian Beltre long to get back to his old self in his spring debut with the Texas Rangers on Monday against the San Diego Padres.
Beltre, who made his Cactus League debut after battling through calf soreness since the beginning of spring training, stepped to the plate in his first at-bat and hit an opposite field double. He later scored on a David Murphy two-run single and finished the game 1-for-3.
It's not only nice to see Beltre getting on base in his debut, after missing the club's first 10 spring games, but legging out a double and then scoring on Murphy's single. The Rangers are obviously putting a lot of faith in Beltre in 2013 after letting Josh Hamilton and all of his offensive production walk during the winter.
Beltre was the club's MVP in 2012, and finished third in the AL MVP voting after hitting .321 with 36 home runs and 102 RBIs in his 15th year in the bigs.
