9/27: Relaxation Destination

POSTITIVE ENERGY: Work, bills, traffic – more than likely those little everyday tasks build up in our minds to induce stress. Today, let go of it all (at least for an hour) and free your mind of all anxiety with a bit of meditation. The Brahma Kumaris Meditation Center in Farmers Branch is hosting a “De-cluttering the Mind” event with a special guest speaker from London, Jim Ryan. Ryan will discuss how to alleviate or at least manage stress levels to further self development. Relaxation dominates this Monday at 6:30 p.m

TRIPLE-TEAMING ART: Three different artists with three different collections collaborating for one massive exhibit all under one roof.  The Craighead Green Gallery presents a three-person exhibit featuring new work by David Crimson, Jeri Ledbetter and Carole Pierce. Crimson, a regular exhibitor at the gallery creates art encompassing imagery from the late 16th century to mid 18th century. Ledbetter, a minimalist painter presents her second collection – while Pierce, another gallery regular living in California, draws on inspiration from nature. The three artistic works will be on display through Oct. 9.

POST-PUNK FOLLOWING: There seems to be a break-up trend when it comes to rockers hitting high note success, and then deciding to chuck out the old and bring in some new blood. The Cult is no exception. The British post-punk band covered all your basic rock principles – long hair, leather, backstage drama and the inevitable break-up. They are “back together” with vocalist Ian Astbury and lead guitar player Billy Duffy the same and that’s about it, but there are special appearances from original members from time to time. The Cult gained quite a following in the ‘80’s with singles like “She Sells Sanctuary” and “Love Removal Machine.” Now, they have entered a capsule phase, releasing four-track album snippets to keep fans in anticipation. Tonight, The Cult  -- playing a bit of old and a lot of new -- hope to see support from their minions at the House of Blues Dallas at 8 p.m.
