9/22: So You Think You Like Pumpkins?

SYTYCD performs live and The Smashing Pumpkins do what they do best

CAN YOU FEEL THE BEAT: The movement. The flexibility. The extension. The dancers without a trace of body fat who can effortlessly tumble, tango, salsa, cha-cha, bust out hip hop moves and look so cool doing it. Yep, those crazy talented kids from “So You Think You Can Dance?” are in town for the 2010 tour.  The live performance will star the latest season of finalists including last season’s winner, Russell as well as some old favorites or “All Stars” as they call it. Watch the nearly three-hour event featuring only the best routines from the dancing television show at the Verizon Theatre in Grand Prairie at 7:30 pm.

LET THE SMASHING BEGIN: They’ve broken up, gotten back together, switched around a few people and continue creating the sound that made them famous in the first place over and over again – much to fans’ delight. The Smashing Pumpkins with front man Billy Corgan (the only original member) started early with the alternative rock wave back in Chicago in the late ‘80’s.  They performed for sold out crowds while reaching chart-topping sales in the ‘90’s including the lengthy album with 28 songs “Mellon Collie and the Infinite Sadness.” But since a key bandmate left or was fired (still a bit fuzzy on that one) The Smashing Pumpkins are attempting to recapture that old edge in their latest album, “Teargarden by Kaleidyscope.” See if the new Pumpkins hit all the right notes tonight at the Palladium Ballroom in Dallas at 8:30 p.m.

WHOA, THAT’S A LOT OF PUMPKINS: Speaking of pumpkins – autumn is in bloom complete with falling leaves, a cool breeze in the air, and a wealth of pumpkin patches popping up. Ok, so maybe all of that autumn stuff is not happening in Texas, but definitely somewhere else in the world. Even though smoldering temps are still very much the norm, the pumpkin patches are popping up at the Dallas Arboretum. Celebrate Autumn at the Arboretum: The Great Pumpkin Festival for a one of a kind pumpkin experience. The Storybook Pumpkin Village is the only pumpkin village in the world with homes built completely out of pumpkins depicting childhood tales. The pumpkin event lasts until Nov. 14 with buy one get one free admission today and every Wednesday complete with 11 a.m. tours.
