Is Manziel No. 1 on Cowboys' Big Board?

With the 2014 NFL Draft nearing, the Johnny Manziel to Dallas rumors keep heating up

Just a few hours ago, the word around the campfire was that the Dallas Cowboys were ready to draft Johnny Manziel if he fell to them at No. 16.

NFL Network’s Mike Mayock and ESPN’s Todd McShay both had Dallas making the move in their final Mocks of the year, and McShay even went so far as to say it was widely believed around the league that the team had Manziel No. 1 on their big board.

According to a Dallas Morning News report this afternoon, though, Manziel isn’t the highest ranked player--or even the highest ranked quarterback--on the Cowboys’ big board going into Thursday night. Per an unnamed source, that honor goes to former University of Central Florida quarterback Blake Bortles.

Which report is true, we'll find out here in a few hours.

All this quarterback talk is relatively new. Prior to the Manziel rumors taking flight, it was pretty much unanimously assumed that Dallas would target a defensive player, most likely a defensive lineman or a safety.
