Garrett: Romo Feeling Good, Excited About Linehan

Jason Garrett says Tony Romo is excited about working with Scott Linehan in 2014

Cowboys head coach Jason Garrett says franchise quarterback Tony Romo is glad to have Scott Linehan onboard.

Reports of the Cowboys’ interest in the former Lions’ offensive coordinator surfaced a week ago, and Dallas made the hiring official this week. Bill Callahan will remain the team’s offensive coordinator, but Linehan will take over play-calling duties and serve as the passing game coordinator.

[Romo]’s certainly excited about it,” Garrett told the team’s official website. “The system of offense stays in place. To have a guy like Scott come in and help us and help us evolve and grow is something we’re all excited about it. Certainly Tony is, as the quarterback of this team.”

According to Garrett, Romo is doing well in rehab following a surgical procedure in December to repair a herniated disk in his back.

“Tony was here at the office (Tuesday),” Garrett said. “I had a chance to visit with him, as did Scott (Linehan) and some of the other guys on staff. He seems to be doing great. He’s in his rehab and trying to make sure he does everything he can every day to get that back right and get back as soon as he can.”
