If frustration were peaches, Cowboys fans would be knee-deep in cobbler right about now.
After Jason Garrett remembered that (a) the Cowboys have a running game and (b) that it's pretty good, Dallas marched down the field with ease, only to be stopped at the goal line by San Diego's defense. Bummer, yes.
But Terence Newman answered with an interception, giving Dallas the ball back on San Diego's 27-yard line.
In what could have represented a palpable shift in momentum, the Cowboys were quick to disappoint.
Nick Folk missed wide from 42 yards out with 42 seconds left on the clock, to keep the score at 10-3. Folk has now missed six of his last nine attempts. He was booed audibly as he left the field after the miss.
In more promising news, Tony Romo seems to be holding well in his return to that role, and the second half will be broadcast on the JerryTron in 3-D, affording Wade Phillips a chance to look dumbfounded in another plane of experience. If this will in any way affect Dallas's play is doubtful; but at this rate, unless something changes, the outlook is bleak.
Chances are few when facing a team of San Diego's caliber. We've seen Dallas spoil two now in the span of a minute.
