Ex-Cowboy David Buehler Signs With Giants

Buehler last played back in 2011

After spending a year out of football, former Cowboys kickoff specialist turned place kicker David Buehler is back in the NFL.

Buehler signed a deal with the New York Giants this week, the Dallas Morning News reports, which was announced by the team on Wednesday. This means that if Buehler makes the team, he’ll face his old mates in Dallas twice in 2013. New York’s place kicker, the veteran Lawrence Tynes, is entering the final year of his contract.

Drafted out of USC as a kickoff specialist in 2009, Buehler led the league with 29 touchbacks in his rookie season. He went 24 of 32 on field goal attempts after taking over as place kicker in 2010. He last played in November of 2011, just before he was sent to the injured reserve with a torn adductor muscle.
