Dez Says He's Fine, Jerry Offers Non-Dunking Celebration Idea

Jerry Jones would prefer that Dez Bryant find a way to celebrate in practice that doesn't involve dunking the football

Cowboys receiver Dez Bryant insists the minor hamstring injury he suffered during 7-on-7 drills on Thursday did not occur while he was dunking the football over the goalposts in celebration after making a big catch--and anyway, the injury is totally not serious.

I’m going to get it checked out but it’s nothing major,” he told reporters, via Clarence Hill of the Fort Worth Star-Telegram. And he later tweeted that he was fine.

But you can’t really blame the Cowboys’ front office for holding their breath a little bit as their new five-year, $70 million man limped to the sidelines a play after the dunk.

"Oh, anytime one of your good players is in a situation you certainly (worry), for that matter any player," Stephen Jones said. "But someone like Dez, of course, it does. But I think he’s going to be fine."

Jerry Jones mentioned to reporters that he’d prefer Bryant keep the dunking off the practice field, and even offered an alternative celebration idea -- one that heavily involves hats.

“... I know he can get there,” Jerry Jones said of Bryant’s dunking. “I'd rather he come out here and do some hat tricks with that hat he had on after practice.”
