The Dallas Cowboys selected Colorado cornerback Chidobe Awuzie in the second round of the 2017 NFL Draft.

"Cheetoh" Awuzie, a three-year starter for Colorado, has excellent size and athleticism for the position. He twice earned second-team all-conference honors.

The Cowboys had a need at the position after losing cornerbacks Morris Claiborne and Brandon Carr to free agency, though they did add free agent cornerback Nolan Carroll.

The team also needed a boost to a secondary that only intercepted nine passes in 2016. Awuzie, though, only intercepted three passes in his college career.
