Cowboys Audition Linebacker Jason Phillips

Phillips last played in 2012 for the Carolina Panthers

Veteran linebacker and TCU product Jason Phillips was at Valley Ranch to audition for a spot with the Dallas Cowboys on Thursday, the same day the team announced that DeVonte Holloman’s career was likely over due to a neck injury, Tim MacMahon ESPN Dallas reports.

Phillips was a fifth round pick by the Baltimore Ravens back in 2009, and played two seasons for the team. After that, he was picked up by the Carolina Panthers, where he played in 2011 and 2012. He signed by the Philadelphia Eagles in March of last year but tore his ACL in training camp and missed the season.

Phillips was among the Eagles’ first round of cuts earlier this week.

For his career thus far, Phillips has 31 tackles and a forced fumble in 29 games.
