Buehler Has Fracture, Expects To Play

David Buehler isn't your ordinary kicker.

Ordinary kickers aren't consistently seen, not just tackling, but hitting on special teams; nor do they bench press the standard 225 pounds at the combine 25 times; nor do they smoke defensive backs in foot races in training camp.

So ordinary kickers may sit out with a broken pinky toe; Buehler, apparently, doesn't.

ESPNDallas.com has reported that Buehler's right pinky toe, originally thought to be bruised, is fractured. However, Buehler says he plans to kick today in practice and, if all goes well, kick on Sunday when the Redskins come to town.

In a report on the Dallas Morning News website, Buehler expanded on his availability, saying he will sit out his normal punt team duties this week, but will remain as the team's kickoff specialist.

"It's more on my approach when I'm running to the ball," Buehler said. "The pinky toe is on the outside of your foot so that's the balancing point. You have to put pressure on it. I'll just tape the two toes together and get the job done.

"I'm not going to let a pinky toe keep me out of the game."
