Alan Ball the Jags' No. 1 CB?

Cowboys castoff Alan Ball is set to step into a starting role with the Jacksonville Jaguars

Remember Alan Ball?

Maybe you do, maybe you don’t. Anyway, the Cowboys drafted him in the seventh round of the 2007 draft and he stayed here through 2011, even getting a few starts at safety in that span. Last year, he spent the season with Houston, where he recorded 21 tackles and two forced fumbles.

Now, he’s with the Jacksonville Jaguars, and he’s set to start the year as not only a starting cornerback, but perhaps the No. 1 cornerback.

According to Ryan O’Halloran of Jacksonville.com, Ball was one of a handful of players to “have made the right kind of impression” through offseason workouts.

“He played 100 snaps last year for Houston, but the Jaguars were intrigued enough by his size (6-foot-2, 197 pounds) to give him a two-year contract in the opening days of free agency,” O’Halloran writes. “As of now, he is the team’s No. 1 corner.”
