Santa Day 2015 at the Frontiers of Flight Museum

NBC 5 and the Frontiers of Flight Museum invite you to celebrate the season at Santa Day on Sunday, December 13, from 1:00 p.m. to 5:00 p.m. at the Frontiers of Flight Museum. This holiday season Santa Claus is leaving the reindeer behind to deliver a classic Stearman PT-17 “Kaydet” biplane to the Frontiers of Flight Museum.

The fun starts at 1:00 p.m. with activities and refreshments. At 2:00 p.m., guests will join holiday elves to watch the Museum’s hangar door open as Santa arrives in the Stearman PT-17, a beautifully restored example of the iconic biplane that trained thousands of pilots during World War II. Once the aircraft is inside, museum guests can get photos taken with Santa in front of the PT-17 for a nominal fee. The museum’s Stearman was completely restored in 2012, and following Santa Day it will be permanently displayed in front of the World War II Gallery.
The afternoon’s activities will also include a special unveiling ceremony at 4:00 p.m. for the new Duval 1/48 Scale Model Aircraft Collection, possibly the largest collection of museum-quality scale model aircraft in the state of Texas. Crafted by Master Modeler Al Duval of Richardson, Texas, the collection consists of over 350 1/48 scale highly-detailed plastic models, mostly of aircraft from World War II and later.
Santa Day visitors will also enjoy creating fun crafts as well as sampling tasty treats for children of all ages.
