Out of everything that’s come from Palo Alto, California (microchips, search engines, blah, blah, blah), Gordon Biersch might be the most refreshing of all. Masters of barley, hops and yeast, these brewpubs also know their way around a juicy steak and a perfectly grilled filet of fish. The chain’s second area outpost opens to the public this coming Monday, November 9th, and will feature an outdoor beer garden, fire pit and seven flat screen TV’s to whet your whistle.
Here’s looking forward to toasting the new kid in town with a tall, frosty homemade cold one. Maybe we’ll start with the light-bodied Schwarzbier…or maybe the Hefeweizen. Or the Czech Lager. Or one of each!
The fact that we’ve known it was coming since August didn’t make it any easier to say “goodbye” to Lola last week. The cozy nine-year-old Fairmont Street restaurant was known for its top-flight wine program as well as some of the most critically-acclaimed cuisine in town. We have on good authority, however, that chef David Uygur is cooking up something tasty for the future. Stay tuned and we’ll keep you posted on his project as details are available.
Firewheel Town Center’s brand-new weekly Four Seasons Market kicks off tomorrow morning and will take place every Saturday year-round from 9 a.m. – 2 p.m. With dozens of vendors offering local artisanal foods, handmade gifts and more, you might have trouble deciding just where to begin. Good thing chef David Gilbert will be on hand to take folks on a free guided tour of everything the market has in store. Head out to Garland tomorrow and meet him at the info booth at Firewheel at 10 a.m. – and don’t forget to wear your walking shoes.
Pub-sters are a-buzz over rumors that the Tipperary Inn may return to the land of the living as soon as next March. “The Tipp”, as it was known, poured its last pint on May 16th after a long run on Live Oak in Lakewood. Five O’Clock Dallas reports the possibility of a takeover of the space by the owners of Poor David’s Pub, who may be planning to reopen it as a sports bar. We’ll keep our ear to the ground on this one for you, too.
