East Dallas' House of Dang! is a fashion collective, if we've tallied right. Workspace on site: check. Outlet for area indie designers: check. Artists as customers: check.

We’re not sure which came to East Dallas first: Andrew Bayer and Doug Voisin’s indie-chic boutique, or a potluck-and-DIY crew of neighborly young professionals. But the two feed off each other as House of Dang! shelters its own separates-based label alongside creations of local artists and designers. The result is a smattering of young women’s clothing, antique furniture and doo-dads for sale in the founding pair’s workspace, making for a colorful good time in the store and in the community bustling outside it.

Our picks from the House of Dang! label:

The deal: Dig-Your-Rig tee, $25. An oil rig flecked with gold and spewing diamonds, flanked with scorpions on either side, is the kind of love-hate image of Texas we love.

The splurge: Delight dress, $80. This frock is party-ready, with a flouncy (not puffy!) skirt and cap-sleeves of elegant burgundy silk sewn onto a knit herringbone boatneck bodice.

P.S.: House of Dang! participates in The Pin Show, a regional showcase of independent designers and labels. It comes around again on Feb. 26. There’s a model call this Saturday, check the site for details.
