Cable network is considering adding a remake of "Dallas" to its plate, the New York Times reports.

But don't look for a more modern take on J.R. Ewing himself -- the show isn't a strict remake, according to the report based on information from a "producer and agent with knowledge of the project."

Instead, the new "Dallas" will feature John Ross, J.R.'s son, and Christopher, the adoped son of Bobby and Pam.

But Larry Hagman, who played J.R., and other cast members of the '80s sud have been contacted to participate, the New York Times said.

Warner Bros. and TNT declined to comment about the project to the newspaper.
