A 500 lbs. inmate at a Texas prison was able to sneak a gun past guards after cleverly using his fat flab to his advantage.
The fatty felon smuggled an unloaded 9mm pistol past several frisks and searches by wedging the gun between his fat folds, reports the Houston Chronicle.
George Veras, 25, was arrested on August 2nd after police found him selling bootleg cd's out of the trunk of his SUV. He was frisked once at the scene, again at the jail, and one last time as he was transferred to a different jail.
The gun was finally discovered when the corpulent convict finally fessed, showing prison guards the gun during a shower break.
Spokesmen for the city and county law enforcement said inmates are not required to pass through metal detectors or wand searches.
Vera is being charged with possession of unlabeled recordings and possession of a firearm in a correctional facility, both third degree felonies, punishable by up to 10 years in jail.
The portly prisoner was released on $10,000 bail.
