SMU football may be looking for a new head coach.

Rumors are circulating Wednesday that June Jones will accept a position at Arizona State. ArizonaSports.com said the deal was reached Tuesday night.

If true, Jones, 58, would replace Dennis Erickson, who was fired last week after leading the Sun Devil's to back-to-back 6-6 seasons.

Meanwhile, the Mustangs finished 2011 at 7-5 and will make their third bowl appearance in Jones' four years with the program on Jan. 7.

Jones has a 23-28 record as the head coach of the Mustangs.  Before SMU, Jones was at the University of Hawaii where he enjoyed a 76-41 record.
