James Congratulates Dirk, Mavs

The Heat star congratulated the Mavs via a message on his website.

Following in the footsteps of Heat teammate Dwayne Wade, who congratulated Dirk Nowitzki immediately following Sunday night’s Game 6 loss, LeBron James posted a congratulatory message to the Dallas Mavericks on his website on Tuesday. Along with particular kudos offered to Nowitzki and the Mavs’ core of veterans, James thanked his team and vowed to work toward further success next season.

James, of course, has come under fire in the media for his lackluster performances throughout the finals, particularly in the fourth quarter, as well as his remarks in the postgame press conference following Game 6.

Here’s the full message, from James’ website:

Congratulations Mavericks on the championship

...especially Dirk, J.Kidd, & Terry who have done so much for our league and worked so hard to get here. They deserve all the credit for what they have accomplished. Thank you to all my family, friends and especially the fans for standing by me this year. Miami fans are incredible. A special thank you to my teammates, coaches and Pat Riley and Micky Arison for all of their support. A lot to learn from this year, a lot to build on, and a lot of work to do this summer.
