Kyle Wilber: The 6-foot-4, 249-pound Wilber was the first of five picks the Cowboys had Saturday. Wilber started 36 of his 43 games at Wake Forest, where he had 195 tackles and 13½ sacks.
Matt Johnson: The Cowboys have selected Eastern Washington safety Matt Johnson with the final pick of the fourth round. The 6-foot-1, 216-pound Johnson was the 135th overall pick. Also, Johnson holds the Eastern Washington school record with 17 career interceptions.
Danny Coale: The Cowboys have finally taken an offensive player in the draft, selecting Virginia Tech receiver Danny Coale 152nd overall in the fifth round. Coale had 60 catches for 904 yards and three touchdowns last season for Virginia Tech.
James Hanna: The Cowboys have selected Oklahoma tight end James Hanna in the sixth round of the NFL draft. Hanna was the second consecutive offensive player taken by the Cowboys on Saturday after they used their first four selections on defensive players. Hanna is from Flower Mound, which is only a few miles from the Cowboys' practice facility. He was picked 186th overall.
Caleb McSurdy: The Cowboys have used their final pick in the draft to get another defensive player. The team selected Montana inside linebacker Caleb McSurdy with the 222nd overall pick in the seventh round Saturday. The Cowboys used five of their seven draft picks on defensive players. This was the first time since 1982 they used their first four picks on defenders.
On the first two days of the draft, the Cowboys used their only picks to get LSU All-American cornerback Morris Claiborne sixth overall and Boise State defensive end Tyrone Crawford 81st overall in the third round.
