Felton To Begin 4-Game Suspension Tonight

Still not sure where Raymond Felton fits in. But now we know when he begins sitting out.

The Mavs’ guard is finally healthy, meaning tonight he can begin his four-game suspension for gun charges last year in New York.

Felton, acquired in the Tyson Chandler trade in June, will miss tonight’s game in Charlotte but will eligible to play a week from tonight against the Indiana Pacers.

Without Felton the Mavs are off to a 7-3 start with one of the NBA’s best offenses. Jameer Nelson is directing, Monta Ellis is attacking and Devin Harris is the perfect hybrid to both. Behind them, J.J. Barea is his old roadrunner change-of-pace self.

Felton, who sprained his ankle in the second pre-season game, has averaged 13 points a game in his nine-year career. But at this point I just can’t see him having a prominent role on this team.

A native Texan who was born in Duncanville and graduated from UT-Arlington, Richie Whitt has been a mainstay in the Metroplex media since 1986. He’s held prominent roles on all media platforms including newspaper (Fort Worth Star-Telegram, Dallas Observer), radio (105.3 The Fan) and TV (co-host on TXA 21 and numerous guest appearances, including NBC 5). He currently lives in McKinney with his wife, Sybil, and two very spoiled dogs.
