Zoe's Lemonade Brings Sweet Success

Lemonade on a hot day and the fearless spirit of a little girl named Zoe Grall combined for sweet success.

Zoe set up a lemonade stand at her Collin County home in Murphy July 29. The 6 year old hoped to raise enough money to pay for hippotherapy.

Zoe has spina bifida and will never walk. Insurance does not cover all her medical expenses and she needed $5,000 to pay for another semester on her favorite therapy horse. She was determined to pay the bill and decided to offer people lemonade on a hot day in hopes they would donate.

"We have almost doubled that goal," Zoe's dad Jay Grall said. "Zoe's special needs trust has raised over $9,500. What an amazing event."

While Zoe was the driving force, Grall quickly gave credit to NBC 5 and its followers on Facebook.

"Zoe's story had over 600 likes and 150+ shares," Grall said. "Zoe had so much fun."

Grall says Murphy police officers, businesses and volunteers showed up to drink lemonade, hang out in the front yard and support his daughter.

"Google Maps recognized our street as a traffic jam," he said. "The best part of the day for Zoe is when her therapy horse, Captain Crunch aka 'Crunchie' surprised her with a visit. The great people at Equest brought him down for all the kids to meet him."

And, Zoe, is now counting down the days now until she and Crunchie are together again.

"Zoe will start back riding twice per week in September," Zoe's mother Brooke Grall said.

"What an amazing testament to friends, family, and complete strangers opening their heart to our little girl," says Jay Grall.
