At the football field at Byron Nelson High School in Trophy Club on Saturday young people lit candles for Aubrey McNeill, an incoming freshman at the school.

The Northwest Independent School District said McNeill died in a car wreck Friday on state Highway 170 and Victory Lane near U.S. Highway 377.

The cause of the crash is not known.

The Northwest ISD said McNeill was involved in athletics and played on the volleyball team at Tidwell Middle School in Roanoke.

"Aubrey lived life with a smile and a joy and a hapiness that touched people and impacted people," said Danny Seiber, McNeill's uncle said.    "Very spunky -- full of life and joy. And that was Jesus through her."
