Weatherford has its next police chief in Lance Arnold, a 20-year police veteran from Oklahoma.
The city council appointed Arnold, who comes from the Norman, Okla., Police Department, where he worked in patrol, training, traffic enforcement and recruiting, among a variety of roles.
He begins his new position in early July, according to a press release from the city.
Arnold replaces longtime Police Chief Mike Manning, who announced his retirement in March.
"My family and I are incredibly humbled and blessed with this opportunity to be accepted into the Weatherford community. Serving as the chief of police for such an outstanding community is an honor and a privilege that I will never take lightly. We look forward to settling in and beginning a new chapter in our life," Arnold said in a statement.
