Students at the University of Texas at Arlington are being nationally recognized for diversity.
The school ranked fifth among the nation's most diverse schools, according to U.S. News and World Report.
According to a statement on their website, "The diversity ranking is based on data from the 2012-2013 school year. Preliminary census figures for the Fall 2013 semester show that about 22 percent of UT Arlington’s 33,311 students this fall are Hispanic and about 14 percent are black or African-American. About 10 percent were Asian, while 9.3 percent were international. This year, almost 1,000 students described themselves as multiracial."
More than 33,000 students enrolled at UTA in the fall of 2013, according to the school's website.
UTA, which was last year ranked 7th most diverse nationally, was the highest ranked national university in North Texas.
