Thousands in Dallas-Area Lose Electricity

Power restored to all by 10 a.m.

All of the nearly 9,500 North Texas homes and businesses that lost power due to utility trouble Thursday morning have had their electricity restored, Oncor says.

Oncor said a transmission line supplying the Dallas area was knocked out of service Thursday due to high winds.

The number of customers without power had declined to about 4,900 by dawn Thursday and to about 1,300 by 8 a.m.

By 10 a.m., Oncor said service was restored to all those impacted by the loss of the transmission line.

The National Weather Service said the Dallas area had freezing temperatures Thursday.  Colder temperatures dropping into the 20s are expected Friday morning.

NBC 5's Ben Russell contributed to this report.
