Texas Teacher Quits, After Giving Students Anti-Muslim Items

A Houston-area teacher has quit after being accused of giving students anti-Muslim documents during class.

The Lamar Consolidated Independent School District on Tuesday night announced the educator's resignation. His name wasn't immediately released.

Authorities last week said the handout, with references to terrorism and beheadings, was not approved by administrators at Foster High School in Richmond.

The teacher was facing unspecified discipline over the eight-page document that some children allegedly received in late March, then showed to their parents.

District officials say the teacher made independent changes to a lesson guide with information that did not follow curriculum plans. He resigned April 8 as the district launched an investigation.
