Tarrant County Working to Combat Holiday Drunk Driving

Tarrant County is implementing an initiative to keep drunk drivers off the road this Thanksgiving weekend.

Tarrant County is putting in place a “No Refusal” operation to combat drunk driving.

The operation will use search warrants to draw blood from motorists who are arrested for driving while intoxicated but refuse to take a breath test.

The initiative is funded by a $311,933 grant, which covers the cost of nurses, technicians who draw blood, supplies and laboratory analysis.

“No Refusal” will go into effect from 9:30 p.m. Wednesday until 5:30 a.m. on Monday, Dec. 1.

The district attorney's office also warns that those who are arrested and charged with DWI during this holiday weekend will have their names and ages published on the district attorney’s website.
