Stand to Honor: Group Standing Around the Clock in Victory Park to Raise Money for Fallen Soldiers' Families

For nearly a week now, a Dallas group has been working to raise $1 million for the families of fallen soldiers. It's a cause they're passionately standing up for -- quite literally.

Since May 6, members of "Stand to Honor" have been perched atop large wooden crates at Victory Park, vowing to remain there until they reach their goal. They're taking turns in shifts, standing on the crates around the clock.

"We decided we were going to stand for our country and stand for our heroes," said Travis Mount, one of the organizers boof the fundraiser. "So we decided hey, let's make an impossible goal -- let's chase failure and we'll see what happens."

Members of Stand to Honor have been perched on a stage at Victory Park to raise money for fallen soldiers' families. They vow to keep standing until they reach their $1 million goal.

They say what's happened is better than anything they could have imagined. As of 11:00am Friday, they'd collected more than $670,000.

"It's just been unreal, the support we're getting," said Mount. "I think it speaks to a lot about what we're doing. It's not about a crazy group of people standing. It's what we're standing for."

Each of the crates is marked with the name of a fallen soldier as well as their boot prints.

Most of the people standing are volunteers who simply wanted to express their gratitude and deep appreciation for the men and women who have made the ultimate sacrifice.

"We had people drive in from Joplin, Missouri -- that's a six hour drive -- to come out here and stand," said Mount. "They told us how much they appreciated it, then got back in their car and drove home."

All of the money will be donated to an organization called Folds of Honor, which provides scholarships to the children of fallen soldiers.

If you'd like to help the group reach their goal, you can make a donation in-person at Victory Park or donate online by clicking here.
