Security Guard Shot in Mesquite Mall Parking Lot

Two men are in custody in connection with the shooting of a security guard in the parking lot at Town East Mall in Mesquite.

Police said the guard was shot around 7:20 p.m. Sunday after asking a driver to move a car that was blocking a traffic lane.

The passenger in the car then shot 22-year-old Kyandrea Choice in the forearm.

Choice was transported to the hospital with non-life-threatening injuries, police said.

Officers caught up with the car and its two occupants during a traffic stop along Belt Line Road. Two men, 21-year-old O'Shea White and 23-year-old Jacques Drew, were taken into custody.

The suspects were charged with aggravated assault against a security officer, which is a first-degree felony.

No one else was injured in the shooting.
