Santa Delivers Troops for Christmas

Families, friends and new babies greet soldiers at DFW Airport

Hundreds of soldiers enjoyed Christmas Eve with loved ones after a loud and festive homecoming at DFW Airport.

Children, parents, grandparents and new mothers waited for loved ones to walk through the gates at Terminal D on Saturday.

There were amazing moments, such as when Sgt. Jeff Miera held his 6-month-old son in his arms for the first time.

"Very surreal, very surreal," Miera said. "Last picture I have on my computer has wires and tubes coming out of him."

Miera said the greeting was a great Christmas present.

Phyllis Birdsong is the mother of a son and daughter. Both are active duty soldiers home for the holidays.

"Oh my God. It's the best Christmas present a mom could ask for," Birdsong said. "The best.. I love it! Merry Christmas to all the soldiers out there. I'm so happy right now."
