Students at Sachse High School are merging science, technology, engineering and math while participating in new program spearheaded by the Texas Institute.
20 students are part of the “coding club,” which meets after school once a week.
The purpose of the program is to get young people more engaged about computer programming. Students are learning how to use TI’s newly revised graphing calculator to code. They are also using the TI-Innovator, which is a new tool created to set code into motion.
Students were tasked with building a filtration system that would provide and conserve water for vegetation in Africa.
Working with the new tools from Texas Instruments also gave students a hands on experience in collaboration.
Students were also mentored by UT Dallas graduate students.
