Police: Woman Tortured Neighbor Over Debit Card

Corpus Christi police arrested a woman they said kidnapped and tortured her neighbor for information about a missing debit card.

Capt. Robert Alvarado said a 26-year-old woman was arrested Saturday afternoon and held on suspicion of aggravated kidnapping. It's unclear if she has been charged.

Alvarado said police were called to the Corpus Christi apartment after a person heard a woman screaming for help. He said the suspect answered the door and told police everything was fine but that a woman behind her mouthed the word "help."

Police said the 48-year-old victim was tied up and had cigarette burns on her arms and legs. The victim told police she had been held for more than two hours.

It's unclear if the victim was hospitalized.
