Police Looking for Man They Say Approached, Touched Young Girl Outside School

Dallas Independent School District police are looking for a man they say asked an 8th grade girl inappropriate questions as she waited for her parents in front of an elementary school Thursday afternoon.[[330462531,R]]

According to a memo from the Dallas ISD, a man in a modified late-model Chevrolet or GMC truck parked across the street from the Charles Rice Learning Center on Pine Street and watched a young girl sitting in front of the school.

Officials said the man, described as white, in his 30s and with multiple tattoos, exited his vehicle, walked over to the girl and sat down beside her before telling her she was beautiful and asking if she had a boyfriend. The man then put his shoulder on hers, officials said.

The man ran back to his vehicle and drove away after a parent who witnessed the interaction asked him what he was doing.

"It's totally out of line, it's inappropriate and we need to talk to them. First, find out what happened here, but secondly, let's find out if he might have been involved with another child and another student in the past," said Craig Miller, Chief of Police for the Dallas Independent School District.

An alert assistant principal snapped a photo of the man's truck and residents who live in the area told NBC 5 they have seen the vehicle in the neighborhood before.

Tweety Clark, a clerk at a nearby store, said the man being sought by police stopped into her store earlier in the afternoon and asked to speak to the manager. When Clark asked him why he needed the manager, she said the man "got an attitude with me and walked out."

NBC 5 has learned the girl had only just exited her school bus and was waiting at the elementary campus for her parents when she was approached by the man.

"I don't have tolerance for it because I got grand kids, sisters, nieces, that's just sickening," said neighbor, Curtis Bagsby.

Dallas ISD police are sharing the vehicle description with other agencies hoping they'll stop and question the man. The vehicle is believed to have been manufactured between 1973-1983, black and/or gray in color with the license tag possibly ending in "0090."

Anyone with information about the man is asked to call the Dallas ISD Police Department.
