Plano Seeks Ways to Ease Future Congestion in Legacy West

Two more big-name corporations are coming to Plano. JP Morgan Chase and Fannie Mae announced this week plans to move near the intersection of the Sam Rayburn and Dallas North tollways.

JP Morgan Chase plans to build its new campus at Legacy West, while Fannie Mae will move into Granite Park.

They join Toyota and Liberty Mutual, which have already announced plans to relocate to the area.

All together, the companies will bring about 16,000 jobs to northwest Plano by 2018.

The most recent announcements have some wondering, once again, whether the city can handle the additional traffic.

Chad Brown takes the Dallas North Tollway to work everyday and said he dreads the thought of more growth doubling what's already an hour-and-a-half commute.

"It's growing too fast. Honestly, I don't actually think we can keep up with the demand, and honestly the roads are now showing that," Brown said.

Plano Mayor Harry LaRosiliere said the city prepared for the growth.

"When we opened up that land we knew we were going to fill it up with corporate citizens, so this is no surprise," he said.

LaRosiliere said the city is already looking at ways to cut down added congestion.

"We're having earnest conversations with DART about how we can create possible loops around the area and time the traffic patterns in a manner that to mitigate it," LaRosiliere said. "Reality is if you're in the hottest business park in the nation, there's going to be some traffic."
