Overnight Fire Destroys Two East Dallas Businesses

Two East Dallas businesses were destroyed in a massive fire early Tuesday morning.

The fire broke out in a one-story building shared by the Fruteria Cano store and Fide's Beauty Salon, located along South Beacon Street.

Dallas Fire-Rescue said it quickly raised the call to two alarms as heavy flames and smoke came pouring out of the building. However, a statement released by Jason Evans, DFR spokesman, said it was a one-alarm fire.

It took firefighters several hours to get the fire under control and knock it down. Evans said the fire was ruled extinguished at 1:45 a.m.

No injuries were reported.

The fire spread to nearby power lines, knocking out power to part of the area. Oncor crews were on scene, working to repair the damaged lines Friday morning.

The cause of the fire is under investigation.
