Overall, crime is down in Dallas, but it's a different story for certain types of crimes.
The Dallas Public Safety Committee was briefed on the latest crime report on Monday, and it's a mixed bag.
Homicides, rapes and aggravated assaults are up, but robberies are down. Meanwhile, residential burglaries are up and business burglaries, thefts and auto thefts are down.
While total violent crime remained unchanged, two categories saw an increase from 2009. Dallas logged 31 homicides from Jan. 1 to March 22, compared to 28 during the same period in 2009, a 10.7 percent increase.
There were 92 rapes from Jan. 1 to March 22 compared to 77 in the same period of 2009, a 19.5 percent increase.
