One man is dead and another is in custody after a shooting outside a downtown Austin medical center mere moments before the start of 2014.
Security personnel at University Medical Center Brackenridge reporting hearing an altercation involving two men around 11:50 p.m. Tuesday, followed by gunshots.
They found and transported to the emergency room with gunshot wounds to the chest a victim who died a short time later.
On duty at the time were four security officers and three off-duty Austin police officers, who eventually arrested a male suspect.
The names of the victim and suspect were not released. Police were still investigating the incident and did not immediately file charges.
