NASCAR Fans Pack Up in the Rain

Overnight campers try to beat bad weather

Many NASCAR fans at Texas Motor Speedway were racing against the weather Sunday morning, packing up tents and their RVs in the rain.

Thousands of fans enjoyed the race Saturday night and didn’t want to drive home. Some people pulled out early Sunday morning trying to beat any possible severe weather.

Chris Wilcox said he couldn’t even get his tent up because of the wind. He finally just gave up.

“I couldn't sleep in tent. It's laying down. That's what I did after I couldn't get into it. Me and my wife slept in the van, because we didn't have nothing to sleep in. The wind was rough, the rain didn't start until morning,” said Wilcox.

Fans said they know with an outdoor event like the race, they’re at the mercy of the weather.
