Man Killed in Corsicana Officer-Involved Shooting

Two police officers have fatally shot a man who had been threatening suicide before firing on the officers in Corsicana.

Corsicana Police Chief Randy Bratton said in a statement Saturday that his officers responded to a call at the Cottonwood Trailer Park early Saturday about a man firing into the air and threatening to kill himself.

When police arrived, they told the man to drop the weapon. Instead, he pointed it at his head and then quickly turned it on one of the officers, firing more than one shot.

The officers were not injured.

Police did not immediately release the identity of the 21-year-old man.

Texas Rangers are investigating the shooting, which is standard for police-involved shootings. The officers were placed on administrative leave with pay.
